Looking back at your preliminary task (the college magazine task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Who would be the audience for your media product?

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Final Products

Front cover. I designed several versions of my front cover and took a long time to eventually decide on which I would use as my final version. I actually decided on this version after I had written my evaluations, I finally decided on it by doing some research into which my target audience liked best. The others are in the appendix.

Original Images and Explanation of Choices Made

Details of locations/props/models;

This shoot was all based around College (ENSFC). I booked out the media soundproof room for after college time and after we had finished shooting in there, we moved onto around the college grounds. We decided to use benches to connote a freedom and casual mood.
The props we decided to use in the soundproof room include -
Microphone
Drum Kit
Drum Sticks
Guitar
Chairs

The models I decided to use for my shoot for my media magazine front cover/contents page/DPS were; Sophie Cook, Alex Ouaddane and Nicole Cooper.

Explanations:
I decided to use and do all of these things as I believe they were the most effective and successful technique to ensure my music magazine was up to a high standard. I used the people above as they are the people who listen to the same style of music I do, they were up for the idea of being my models and they are altogether fun, outgoing personalities which I thought would be perfect for my magazine. The idea of booking out the soundproof room after college time came to me when brainstorming my original ideas. I wanted to have a suitable background and something new and different in comparison to everyone else.

WE'RE NO ORDINARY BAND... WE'RE YMM

YMM are the new hot r'n'b band in town. We managed to get a hold of them, and here they are chatting to us (EXCLUSIVELY) about their lives and how they formed!

Sophie Cook (down) is their guitarist and had a pretty
average childhood. She revealed ‘it was hard growing up in Lowestoft, but it
all came together when I met these guys, they’ve changed my life.’ “I’d be
nothing without YMM!”

Nicole Cooper (right) is their main singer and is related to
her band mate Alex! She says ‘Being in the same band as your brother is
torture, but we have a laugh and we make it work!’

Alex Ouaddane (far right) is their drummer, he’s only 20 and
has had a pretty hectic life so far! He says ‘Drumming and this band are practically
my life, it brings you alive, gives you such a buzz!’

We got the chance to ask them questions about their band, and how they formed!

Q; What age did you guys get together?

A; Well Sophie was only 17, Nicole was 18 and I was 19.

Q; What made you decide to become a band?

A; Well, originally it was mentioned by friends, I thought they were joking,
but then I asked these two about it, and it just went from there really!

Q; What does YMM stand for?

A; Everyone has asked us this, it means You, Me + Music. We know it’s cheesey
but we think it works, so yeah!

Q; Sophie, there have been rumours around you dating the new
king of the jungle; Dougie Poynter, is this true?

A; Haa, well we’ve been meeting up a few times, been on a couple dates, but it’s
still early days so...

Q; What type of music do you play?

A; Mainly poprock, upbeat kinda stuff, the things everyone loves and can move
around too.

Q; How long have you been a band?

A; Around a year now, and it’s been immense!

This band plays mainly poprock & indie rock, and
although they have only been together a mere 18 months, they have already
arranged a 12 month tour! Below are just some of their tour dates &
locations, but you can find more online!

Audience Research: What I learnt from my results

I learnt from my results that most of my target audience like to;
- Buy more clothes than anything else
- Enjoy reading about music
- Want to see band images on the magazine front cover
- Read thinner magazines
- Shop at River Island, Topman & Tesco
- Buy music magazines

I received these results by handing out a questionnaire featuring a variety of different questions based upon stereotypical views of my target audience. After collecting these results, I transferred the data to pie charts and presented them in a fun, colourful way.
